Halloween is upon us and with it has come the usual controversies of those who say that it shouldn’t be celebrated as it is a holiday foreign to us. Nothing could be further from the truth, and that’s why I thought I’d inform myself and inform you too, taking the opportunity to give you a sweet gift.
It is thought that Halloween was brought to Italy by Americans. However, it is not known that it was the Europeans who exported their traditions to the new continent. The Halloween celebration, or rather “All Hallows Eve”, which translated means “the eve of all saints”, was born in northern European countries to welcome the winter seasons.
Even in the regions of northern Italy it is traditional to celebrate the advent of Autumn with the harvest of pumpkins, which were carved by children and placed on the doorstep to scare the spirits of the dead, who were said to wander during the night preceding the All Saints’ Day. In the regions of Abruzzo, Puglia and Calabria, during the night of October 31st, masked figures wandered the streets asking for alms for the most needy. Often it was actually food or change. Sicilian children, on the other hand, woke up on the morning of November 1st with a basket full of sweets and toys, brought in the night by their deceased loved ones. Among these were the famous “Bones of the dead”.
And what do you think? I don’t see anything wrong with it. I think it is an excellent opportunity to remember our loved ones and to celebrate the family making adults and children happy. For this reason, on Halloween all the children who come to visit us in masks will be welcomed with sweets. And if you are interested in a studio service for children or families, one of our packages will certainly be right for you.
This year I also added a sweet surprise on our Facebook page. Anyone who brings a screenshot or saved photo of the Halloween promotion will be able to get a 10% discount on a minimum spend of 10 euros (promotion not valid for communions and confirmations). But be careful, the promotion is only valid from 30 October to 4 November. So don’t miss it. A sweet Halloween everyone!
